Slippin’ and Slidin’ in the Rain

Don’t you love spontaneous moments when you do something just for the heck of it!

Well, I do and one just happened!

Just the other night after dinner I told the guys I sat with that I love and enjoy rain. Next thing I know i hear someone yell, “hey want to play in the rain?” I was a bit hesitant at first but then I was thinking to myself, “I love rain. It’s beautiful outside! When will I get to play outside with these kids again?!” So next thing you know I say, “yes, why not!”

Two of my other teammates Melanie and Brooke (Brooke is an exposure girl, more info about exposure at bottom) ran outside in the same clothes we had on. Brooke was wearing a long black and white dress. I was wearing a T-shirt and pants. Brooke was slippin’ and sliddin’ in her long dress, but she didn’t mind. We had a blast playing soccer with the kids in the rain!

During this time I was reminded how moments like these stay in your mind forever. The spontaneous moments when you look back and remember the joyful faces of kids having fun and enjoying the company around them.

“Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.”
Psalm 47:1

These kids come from various backgrounds and their stories are crazy and have the power to change someone’s life and perspective. I have greatly enjoyed learning and engaging with each of these beautiful kids I played rain soccer with.

(They too are from different tribes of Panama!)

(The remainder of our time in Panama will be at the YWAM center in Potrerillos Arriba, Panama. We teach kids English and learn Spanish, teach them more about the Bible, and go out into the community to do various other activities.)

Exposure girls means they have the opportunity to be on the World Race with us for the month and do life as a racer. They get a glimpse of what the race is like and decide if the race is for them. We have two with us and their names are Brooke and Shelby! I enjoy them a lot!!
