My name is Kelsey and I’m a follower of Christ.
Hey there, thanks for visiting my blog! My name is Kelsey; or many of my friends call me Wayne. In August 2018, I embarked on one of the craziest adventures of my lifetime—traveling throughout the Middle East, Central Asia and the Far East with the World Race. You might be wondering….what is World Race? It is a platform and opportunity to share God’s hope and truth missionally through a set route of countries. Specifically, on the Expedition route, through countries in the 10/40 window. I arrived back home in late June of 2019 empowered, on fire and unable to comprehend the immense privilege it is to be a daughter of God. From August–November of 2019, I have the grand privilege of going back out in leadership. I will be traveling with a new expedition squad and will be serving as a team leader As I pray to continue fostering community, intimacy with the Father and edify the body of Jesus-loving young adults I am to lead, I am honored to serve. As I go out again, I am overjoyed to see what the Father has in store.
In my original route (Leaving in August of 2018), I had the immense privildge of making local friends while sharing and discovering new facets of God, self and community. God is extending some radical presence and freedom to us at all times. In some countries, we partnered with existing missions organizations and in others we pioneering new missions opportunities while experiencing culture, adventure and the beauty of God’s people in these places. While I am team leading, the 2019 August Expedition route intends to travel to China, Tibet, Nepal and India.
Our route is named “Expedition” because we will enter countries in the 10/40 window. Window International Network states, “the 10/40 Window is located from 10 degrees south to 40 degrees north of the equator. There are 69 nations across northern Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia in the 10/40 Window. Nearly 4 billion people live here, including 90 percent of the world’s poorest of the poor. It is estimated that 1.6 billion of these people have never had the chance to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ – not even once! The seat of every major non-Christian religion – Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Animism, Atheism, and Sikhism – is headquartered in the 10/40 Window” (Window International Network)
In the last years especially, God’s dynamic invitations on this journey have been transformational. In a pivotal season of life between my sophomore and junior year of college, the Holy Spirit met me at Port Sheldon beach on the shores of Lake Michigan. On July 4th of 2014, this encounter with the Holy Spirit changed what I knew surrender to mean and the trajectory of my life. My life will truly never be the same as I’ve tasted, seen and experience the power of God and His freedom. As God continues to captivate and touch deeper and deeper parts of my heart, I am so expectant and excited to work for the Kingdom until I’m called back home.
Let’s see a bit more about me: In 2016, I graduated from Olivet (first gen woot woot) with a Nursing degree. While at Olivet, I had the opportunity to help build the varsity swim program. Over the years various sports, especially swimming and triathlon, have been very influential in my formation. After graduation, I worked on an ICU step-down unit as a nurse. During that two year season, I had the opportunity to dive deeper into my heart through the framework of a Spiritual Formation program at Moody Bible Institute. My heart, purpose, identity, emotional vitality and life have been renewed and continue to be revitalized by the power of the Holy Spirit. As I continue to claim His victory over my soul and listen to the ways He wants to use my life, I am undone by the beauty and Soveringty of my Father.
I am a daughter. And serve a God seeking universal restoration. Universal worship. The good word of our belonging, salvation and the hope of Christ needs to be shared. The banquet table is calling, how will we invite more people to join the feast?
