You’re probably reading the title of this like “oh my what is Kelsey gonna say now” ahhh but just give this a chance.
“You are my treasure. You are beautiful.”
During camp (ahh what do ya know another blog about something at camp [bear with me please]) I closed my eyes and my head was filled with a beautiful image of a man painting a wall sized canvas black…let me back up. When I first realized that pictures in my head weren’t just images I was thinking of I saw a black sky with many many stars. It later became a more detailed image as my relationship with the Lord grew more and more. It became a man who sat me in a lil folding chair and painted a very large canvas all black…I was confused. What did this even mean??? How do I unpack and process a black canvas..? I prayed hard later on and more of this picture was revealed again, He grabbed brushes from a chest then began placing silver/whitish spots on the black canvas. I then thought “what is this telling me???”. I waited and watched patiently as a man painted what looked to be a night sky while I sat and watched him do this. It was weirdly peaceful. After it was revealed that it was the stars I still had no idea what it meant so I kind of held on to the image and moved along with the week. As parts of me were uncovered and revealed to others I was feeling weak and messy and less than beautiful but I held tight to the image of this man painting stars promising myself to unpack it soon. Finally, I knew, the Lord had created this message for me. This is what He told me “You are my daughter, I painted these stars, I painted your heart, I treasure them much like I treasure you. You are not too messy for me. If I believed in organization the stars would line in perfect rows and never be out of place. You are much like the stars, you are beautiful and you are not a perfect person but I created you.”
There are so many verses I want to post about God’s infinite-ness and the stars but I’ll leave you with one that really drives home this image of God’s power and love for me and the stars.
Isaiah 40:26 “Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these stars, the One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; because of the greatness of His might and strength of His power, not one of them is missing.”
A thing that I love about the stars is the way they are addressed in the bible in multiple instances – “heavenly hosts” how beautiful. Not only do they have a place here on earth for us to marvel at in awe of the Lord but they also hold a significant place in the highest place. In the kingdom. He created heavenly hosts, He created us and He saw that we were very good. Even better in his eyes than stars. WOW. Talk about powerful.
