Hey everybody, hope you all had a great thanksgiving! Wow hard to believe that we’ve already been on the field for 76 days. (including thanksgiving) So in the spirit of thanksgiving I wanted to make a list of everything I’ve been thankful for in the past few months on the field. Hope you enjoy it!
1. Getting the opportunity to go on the World Race.
2. Being fully funded for the World Race.
3. Getting to live here in Gautemala for the past 3 months.
4. My wonderful squad leaders and team leads.
5. T Squad, some of my absolute favorite people on this entire planet.
6. My wonderfully creative team; Selah.
7. The Adventures in Missions Base here. It’s basically the Taj for World Race living conditions.
8. The base staff who have poured into us over the past 3 months.
9. My friendships with the guys who are our translators at ministry; Aderkee, Manolo, and Carlos.
10. Lunch breaks where we get to hangout and talk about life.
11. Los Corrales our beautiful ministry site here in Gautemala.
12. Chimaltenango our secondary ministry site here.
13. The Christmas tree they put up in the park in Chimaltenango.
14. The park in Parramos.
15. Weekend adventures to Antigua with friends.
16. Debrief in San Pedro at the Lake.
17. Spending my 19th birthday at the beach.
18. Sea turtles.
19. Corn tortillas.
20. Expresso Fudge Ice Cream at Saritas for 12Q/$1.50.
21. Strawberry Can Cans some of the best cookies in all of Gautemala.
22. Endless amounts of Tiky my favorite Guatemalan soda.
23. Chai Tea Lattes.
24. Polo Campero.
25. WiFi that actually works for 2Q in Parramos.
26. Deep Diving God’s word on Tuesday and Friday mornings as a squad.
27. Activation Thursday’s, where we get to put what we are learning into action in practical ways.
28. Sunday’s at Shoreline Church in Antigua.
29. Feedback. There I said it I actually love Feedback night.
30. Adelina the song Lauren gave me during Feedback this week.
31. The words of life wall in the common area.
32. Getting words of life.
33. Music. All the music.
34. All my musically inclined sqaudmates.
35. Squad worship sessions.
36. Slightly weird team dance parties.
37. Card games.
38. Bonfires on slightly chilly nights.
39. Van rides, (Vans are public transportation here) especially when I can ride close to the open van door and watch the landscape go by.
40. Chicken buses that don’t have TVs. So they don’t play weird music videos.
41. The cat vans that take us to Los Corrales.
42. Getting to watch the sunrises.
43. Getting to watch the sunsets.
44. Flowers. The wild flowers in Gautemala are so beautiful.
45. The walk from Los Corrales to Parramos.
46. Rainstorms, especially at night well I’m falling asleep and I can hear the rain on the tin roof.
47. Getting to hold cute puppies during house visits.
48. My bed here at the base, it’s so comfy.
49. My cozy sleeping bag that I can bundle up in at night.
50. Having the wonderful ability to sleep anywhere and through anything.
51. Maga Paca a thrift store here where I’ve bought far to many clothes.
52. The free table where you can pick up other peoples rad rejects.
53. My very worn out, but very comfy vans.
54. The enneagram test, which put my personality type into words.
55. My tattoo and the reminder it is to not live out of a place of fear.
56. Warm showers.
57. Having short hair because it’s easy to check for lice.
58. My teammate Emma’s ability to give killer haircuts.
59. Not having to wear makeup or long hair to feel beautiful or confident anymore.
60. Finally understanding that my identity is ultimately found in the Lord and not in stuff around me.
61. Getting to have lots of time to study God’s word.
62. Having the ability to get to know more of God’s character.
63. My devotional book.
64. Hot spots for WiFi.
65. Social media so I can keep up with my friends and family back at home.
66. Being able to talk to my parents and my sister.
67. That we are only a hour behind Michigan.
68. Having such an amazing community at home.
69. That we have a 24 hour layover in L.A. on our way to Thailand. (Here I come Target)
70. That we had a route change to Myanmar.
71. That we still have 6 months of the Race left.
72. Getting to experience so many other beautiful cultures.
73. That I got accepted to Bethany Global.
74. That I still have a lifetime of adventures with God left.
75. That I got to have a wonderful thanksgiving with my squad today.
