The Choice

The choice is yours to struggle or glide

To live in the sunshine or continue to hide

In the shadows and darkness of pain from the past

The choice is yours to see the half empty glass

Let the love within you rise up and overflow

You are stronger than you think

More capable than you know

The  choice is yours where you put in your energy

Don’t waste it on things that can never be

Life moves forward with no reverse

You are where you are; blessing or curse

Do something you fear

Try something unknown

Life begins beyond your comfort zone

More of what you want

Less of what you don’t

The choice is yours

You will or you won’t

This month my team (Sweet Heat) and I are in Georgetown, Guyana partaking in Unsung Hero.  We basically are trusting and asking the Lord what He has for us this month because nothing has been established in Guyana in terms of ministry. It is a way for us to establish more ministry contacts (unsung heroes) for future World Race squads who come into this area. An Unsung Hero is someone who is “dedicated to serving some of the most impoverished populations in the world, especially if the ‘hero’ rarely receives recognition for their dedication and service.”

To be honest, arriving in a foreign country with no ministry host and no place to stay definitely took me out of my comfort zone. It literally forced me to fully trust and rely on God more than I ever have before. But there was no need to worry because God has shown up in the most unimaginable and exciting ways.

To get a little taste, upon arrival, our squad leaders were led to Full Gospel Assembly who accommodated all 31 of us in an instant. This host has been so gracious and hospitable that they are allowing my team to extend our stay for the remainder of our trip. Ministry contacts were established when we stumbled into a coffee shop, with the intent to do a bible study and get some WiFi, while God had other plans. God introduced us to a lady named Jessica who helps orphans and children in need of medical attention in Guyana. We now have been working alongside Ruimveldt Children’s Aid Centre who provide care to orphaned, vulnerable, and HIV/AIDS infected children in Georgetown. If that wasn’t enough, God provided the opportunity to visit the Arawak tribe of Guyana which is one of four indigenous tribes here… We leave tomorrow.

The connections made and the way God has provided has literally rocked my world. My team and I are pretty much speechless at everything that has happened here in Guyana. It started by trusting and believing that God would provide. It was us knowing that He is always here to show us and lead us through this life and recognizing that we need to be the one to show up and be proactive in what He has for us.

During my time in Guyana, I began to look at my choices in life for the situations at hand.

Am I daring greatly or sitting on the sidelines?

Am living in peace or living in fear?

Am I waiting with expectation or with doubt?

Am I believing that God will show up in situations—or have I stopped expecting?

To be quite honest, God does ask us to trust Him with the things we cannot control. But He also asks us to take action in the things that we can. He asks us to know Him, to love Him and to honor Him, and then to live confidently in return.

We are called to take action, make decisions, live our lives and do what it takes to get ourselves where He wants us to be.

Our connection with God is a two-way street, and like it or not: We have a role in this relationship. We have a choice. We have a will. And with that will we can either say yes or no. We can stop or we can go. We can stay the same or we can grow. Live in the old or awake to the new.

Real faith lives a life of action. Real faith is alive. Real faith takes responsibility and moves forward.

Real faith asks, seeks and knocks and trusts that when we do the door will be opened.

Cheers,

Kels
