This is a year for big things. Least for me. So much has happened in such little time. I’ve quickly had to face the cold, hard reality that I would have to budget like never before and having to say no to some things in order to save enough for the race and afterward. Having student loans definitely doesn’t help either…

I mean, I could do the logical thing and defer them for a year, but the idea of racking up interest on top of what I already owe, and not having a job immediately lined up is not the kind of thing I want to be dealing with when I get back. Earlier in the year I felt it was in my spirit to believe I would have the race, my car, and my student loans paid off. We’re talking close to $37,000 here…I make less than that a year. Of course God is seriously gonna have to pull through for me. Through a lot of prayer I found it in the best interest to sell my car, which I have affectionately nicknamed Nightfury. He will be missed. The rest I would have to rely on God’s favor, wisdom, and provision in order to get taken care of.

I’m not typing this blog as a pity me thing, but rather as a way to as for your prayerful partnership in either helping finance the race, or just being a prayer warrior. Whatever the Holy Spirit is nudging you to do. Truthfully prayer is more valuable in my mind because it opens the door for God to work and provide for my needs. Instead of panicking and trying everything humanly possible to figure this out, I’m going with a new approach and still turning it over to him. I’m fasting every Wednesday and still sowing a seed each paycheck that somehow God will provide, and I’m sure it’ll be how I least expect it. He’s already proved to me his faithfulness once when I had my rummage sale. He put it on my heart to believe for more then $2,000 and to fast the days leading up to it, and so I did. The whole thing was nerve wracking but when i made the final count plus a couple other extra outside sales I made close to $2,500. That’s how amazing our God is and I cried because it was the confirmation I had been needing.

And so he’s stretching me even further this time. I want to believe with my whole heart all of this will be resolved, but I must admit this is rather terrifying. Trusting God with finances is a whole new arena for me. Do I know he can do it? Absolutely. Trouble is staying faithful and even when it comes down to the wire not trying to take control of it. So here is an update of different ways you can help!
