Here we are sitting in the hotel room in Atlanta for launch. We have been sitting in sessions to further help us prepare for what is to come. To be honest.. it has been so hard to just sit and listen to session after session. All I can think about is my friends, family, food, and sleep that I am leaving behind but also just wanting to leave and start this adventure. It wasn’t until this morning when I could really feel God stirring in my heart. Our speaker, Carly, started to talk about the Kingdom of God and what that looked like for her. The more she talked the more I was blown away.
A lot of us just think of the Kingdom of God as the future, or what is coming after death. The reality is that the Kingdom of God is here, it’s alive, it’s now, and it’s active. The way we love each other, the way we forgive, our joy, our community with one another is just another example for others to see a glimpse of what the Kingdom really is. Every morning that we wake up and get out of bed is a day of purpose. There is something God is wanting to do through us and to reveal to us every day that we are living and breathing.
What hit me the most was just how much God uses us without us evening knowing it. I always thought just living a good christian life and doing ministry is how people saw the love of Christ, but in reality it’s through everything. Smiling and saying hello to the homeless person on the street that is passed over without notice day after day, feeling as though they have no place in this world. It’s taking the time to play with the children that no one wants to deal with because they are dirty and always begging for spare change. God’s ways are so unfathomable and unseen that we can’t even grasp just what He can do through us. Just being in community with one another, loving and encouraging one another to be who Christ is calling us to be can speak so much to a group of people.
I am so thankful that we got the opportunity to hear this session today. Not only am I now more aware of what the Kingdom of God looks like, I now get to really dive in head first on the field. We all need to take the time to be aware and intentional of who and what God is putting in front of you everyday. It could be a family member, the homeless person you past on the way to work, a coworker, or even your mail man that you have never taken the time to say hello to. This isn’t just something that is done overseas, it can be done everywhere. The world is the Kingdom!!
I am so excited to get out in the world and love and share Christ with His people. To be that person that stops to say hello, that person that helps you put your groceries away, that person that prays over you, that person that is unafraid to step out on Faith for other people. The Lord is doing amazing things already and I can’t wait for this adventure to continue.
UPDATE:
Thank you all for helping me get to this point in this journey. I am currently only 1,100 away from reaching my second deadline of 11,000 dollars. Making it to this deadline will guarantee me 6 months on the field. You have all be so generous and I am so blessed by you!
