This past week I was able to visit the states and spend a week with my extended family! We had a ball, all 45 of us!

Not only are they my family, but they’re also some of my biggest supporters, in every sense of the word- they support me through prayer, relationally through phone calls, emails, and texts, as well as financially. It’s safe to say, I would not be here serving in Guatemala without them!!

So as I reflect back on my time in the States, I can’t help but smile- a smile full of thankfulness!

Leaving was tough, and there were many sweet embraces and tearful goodbyes, especially since I don’t know when I’ll get to see them next.

During my travel day back to Guatemala, I kept wondering if extending my stay in Guate was the right move. There is always a sacrifice in saying yes to the Lord, and I spent time convincing myself that it is worth it; then the wise words of my sister popped in my head “there is also always a sacrifice in saying no”

and truth began to set in…

It is worth it. He is building His walls around me, He is maturing and growing me; He has me right where He wants me! And I am not willing to miss out on what He has for me here.

As I walked through the doors of our house in Antigua, I was greeted by brothers and sisters where happy hellos and hugs were shared! And I remembered that one of the greatest bonuses that comes along with being a follower of Christ is that your family extends past that of blood relation. I’m incredible thankful for my brothers and sisters here. We are family.

So once again, I smile- a smile that is overwhelmed with gratitude!
