Last Saturday we moved from Panajachel to San Marcos. We’ve officially been here for over a week!
We’ve continued to lay brick on the foundation The Lord has been building here.
Divine appointments have been a big building gateway.. We’ve met people who have a hunger to see The Lord move in the people of San Marcos, as well as, others who aren’t yet aware of the calling placed on their lives, but we see it and are itching to help them walk into it.
It’s been such a confirmation that we hear the lord and we’re at the right place at the right time.
For instance, we’ve met a guy, Jay, who curiously approached us after observing two people in our group wearing shirts with the number 516 on them (2 men representing their organization, 516 Now, were visiting us for a weekend.) Jay was a little freaked out and went on to explain how he helps supply a school with snacks for the children. Just the day before the school asked him to provide 516 bananas. This request was way different from all the others, and the specificity of it made him raise an eyebrow, yet he followed through and dropped of 516 bananas. 516 had been stuck in his head for the past 24 hours and sure enough there were two men sporting in bright red that same number right in front of him. Our group shared with him what we are all about, and he welcomed us into his home. We’ve continued to pursue and cultivate a relationship with him.
Another time we were out in he community and my teammates, Morgan and Gabe, felt lead to enter a specific office. A women was sitting inside so they struck up a conversation which lead to discovering she was a believer. Gabe began inquiring about her life dreams. She said a few things, paused, then went on and shared about her dream to have a healing ministry. She explained how she had been miraculously healed by The Lord from cancer a few years ago. She wanted to extend the healing she had received to others. She knows God has big things for her, but she’s afraid to pray the simple yet so challenging prayer of “here I am Lord, have Your way with me”. She fears the discomfort that comes along with sacrifice. The Lord has big plans for her and we’re eager to see them unfold!
Another outing lead myself and a few others to Samuel. We heard him whacking away with a machete before we saw him and immediately felt the tug to talk to him. He left his work to spend time with us, and he began sharing how Christ has changed & saved his life. He shared how his heart breaks for the youth in his town that are under the bondage of alcohol and drugs. He went further and shared his vision to start sports camps to help get kids off the streets and into Christ centered communities & activities. This guy blew us away.
And I could share even more stories.. Hosea the produce guy, Edwin the owner of a local restaurant , Cat an American who wants to see The Lord rock the hearts of people here in San Marcos, and the list goes on and on and on..
God is so good. We’re definitely in the very beginning stages of forming relationships, but nonetheless we see how God is forming a network for us. As time goes on more things will connect and become clearer. It is time to carry out the ministry of reconciliation and to turn the hearts of the people back to their Heavenly Father! I can’t imagine being anywhere else doing anything else. For such a time as this…
