I remember going to a friendsgiving dinner and there being this girl at my table she kept saying Jesus sat us here for a reason. Alright that’s cool I thought right yeah there’s a purpose for us sitting here right on man and never gave it much thought. Little did I know what the Lord had in store.
The next Sunday I saw my friend Cindi(Cindi I’m callin you out!!) at church and we all went out to eat. Cindi from Missouri started talking about the World Race. Oh cool I had a friend in high school that went on the race. “Oh really what’s her name” she said
“Cody”
“Cody what”
Cody Brown”
“SHUT UP THATS MY ROOMMATE!!!”
She talked a lot about the race. Then a month or so later, at the door holder Christmas party a guy named Tyler pulls me over and begins talking to me. Really a neat guy, anyways didn’t say anything about the World Race and we went about the evening. As the party ends and everyone is filing out the door I look back and there’s Cindi and Tyler. Cindi says hey Kelsey meet my friend Tyler. We went on the race together
“SHUT UP!! We literally just met earlier!
OK Jesus, I’m looking at the Race. I got on the Internet started checking it out, praying about it you know. I already hadn’t started back to school that semester like I wanted to. So I’m playing it out over in my head 11 countries 11 months that’s a tall order Jesus. A little nerve racking, alright I’ll apply Right?
I went to the website and watched the main video I hadn’t watched yet, and wouldn’t you know it a buddy of mine from summer camp right there talking in the video. Even cooler then that we go to the same church! I had no idea he went on the Race until that moment.
Alright Jesus, You are just continuing to blow my mind right now! So I applied and I just took time and filled it out and spilled my guts. It was not easy it brought about a ton of fear and anxiety. Opening up and being completely honest was tough man I was just drillin myself into the ground. Answer after answer started sounding like ok, here’s a huge list of reasons why you wouldn’t pick me. The whole time I just knew this was where he was calling me! Even if they say no I had already said yes. Now was the fun part. Waiting!
In the meantime I continued on with life. Kept doing what I was doing. Tried not to get too antsy. Then I did a phone interview and was pleased with how well it went and not 3 days later I got the phone call that I had been accepted to go on the Workd Race!! That was a life changing conversation that day. That was the day His calling just got real. I’m leaving the country for 11 months in less then 10 months.
Since getting accepted on September2015 route 5. The new routes came out for January 2016. A new expedition route. I remember being on the third day of a fast and reading the countries and just balling my eyes out! I don’t know why, but it seemed like the most perfectly beautiful thing I’d ever read. I couldn’t shake this feeling so I spent the night in prayer and applied. Guess what time it was again? Waiting
A little while later I got the call! Andrew gave me the news. I’m going on the Expedition route! I cried but didn’t let Andrew know and we hung up and I just remember this overwhelming feeling of gratitude come over me And my eyes seemed to be opened more to the fullness of his grace and mercy I could not stop thanking Jesus for what he had done!
Now the work has begun It’s time to continue to grow heal prepare seek and stay obedient. This is where you can find me. If you’re reading this thank you for taking the time and I hope this finds you feeling happy! Say a little prayer for me if you don’t mind as I pray whoever reads this life was touched and encouraged in some way Thank you Jesus for your unfailing love! Continue to love us even in the times we think we don’t deserve it. I love you. Amen.
I am a #worldracer #11in11
