King’s Children’s Home, outside Belmopan, Belize

Sunday morning my teammate, Catherine, and I were dropped off outside a children’s home with no idea what to expect. When we stepped into the newly painted concrete building, we were greeted with Bible verses on ever wall and lots of noise.

Sunday is a ‘free’ day at King’s Children’s Home in Belmopan, Belize. It houses anywhere from 80-100 kids at any given time, ranging in age from 0-19 (or until they have finished school.)

Picture 50+ kids running around, laughing and having a good time

Everyone, including volunteers, calls the founder Miss Leonie, ‘mom.’ And EVERYone was vying for her attention. You can see the love she has for each and every child when she interacts with them and they love her equally. For many, this is the only home they have ever known, KCH takes in abandoned, abused, neglected and trafficked kids. They are provided three meals a day, education, medical attention, a clean and safe place to live and lots of love.

Our visit there was short but at times very overwhelming with the kids who just wanted to greet us or hug us. There was always laughter coming from every part of the complex and the kids have learned to work together for certain tasks.

King’s Children’s Home is a blessing to SO many, and I’m grateful to have just cause a glimpse of the loving environment.

Please keep Miss Leonie and the KCH in your prayers as they are an organization that survives off of donations. You can find out more about King’s Children’s Home at http://www.kingschildrenshome.org/
