During March my team (Relentless) was with Tereo in Transnistria/ Moldova. Transnistria was quickly dubbed ‘Narnia’ as it is not a real country and ‘weird’ things happen there. If you have read any of The Chronicles of Narnia, you know time goes differently there. The children become bolder, wiser, older, etc.

So Narnia was the place were two worlds collided. Most of us were missing home and were a little anxious about our layover in LAX and drooling of the American food we would eat while there. One evening someone mentioned Chickfila (a southern and Gsquad favorite) and emailing them to see if we could get some food. When they were asking who would email them- I volunteered. What could it hurt, right?

So, I penned this lovely email (I am pretty proud of it.):

To whom it may concern:

My name is Kelsey Beggs and I am writing on behalf of World Race G-squad 3rd generation. The World Race is a mission trip to 11 countries in 11 months. We left the U.S. in July 2014. While running through the airport to make our first international flight, many stopped for chicken biscuits and chicken minis for one last American breakfast. So far we have travelled through Asia, southern Africa, and Eastern Europe. Our next international flight will take us through LAX on our way to Guatemala.

Unfortunately, we have not found ANY Chick-fil-a restaurants in Nepal, India, Thailand, Cambodia, Swaziland, South Africa, Botswana, Romania or Moldova. We have dreamed and pined for juicy chicken nuggets, perfect Chick-fil-a sandwiches, and crisp waffle fries to dip in our amazing Chick-fil-a sauce – all to be chased by a delicious fountain drink or milkshake.

After months of dreaming of this deliciousness and a little research, we sadly found out Chick-fil-a is unavailable in the LAX airport. Our layover will not allow us much time to leave the airport, find Chick-fil-a and make our connecting flight.

On behalf of 40 Chick-fil-a lovers from all over the U.S. – and one from Canada- is there anyway we can have a very special donated or discounted delivery to the airport..

In return for this majorly discounted and delicious donation, my squad and I would love to offer your company major promotion via social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter along with others. Blogs will be written, pictures uploaded, hashtags created and shared, and cravings quenched when these two great companies (Chick-fil-a and World Race) join together for a moment of pure awesomeness.

Sincerely,

Dreaming of #1s

Kelsey Beggs, on behalf of G-squad 3rd Generation #11n11 #chickfila

My people in Narnia helped edit it to perfection. It just so happened that month in Narnia, a young man from North Carolina was also working with the same church (shout out Max Ross!) One evening during English club, I mentioned I wrote to Chickfila and he asked who I sent it to. At that time, it was on my iPod as I had no clue where to send it. Max to the rescue! He had worked at Chickfila and knew one of the founders’ grandsons (I believe.) I sent the email and guess what?

I GOT A REPLY!!! (Insert happy dance) ??????

Mr. White forwarded my request onto his cousin in Southern California and dreams were coming true!!!

I received a very nice email back from Julian at store 405 @ Jefferson saying he would LOVE to help with the ‘chicken drop.’

Needless to say, my very tired and hungry squadmates were thrilled to receive FREE Chickfila during our layover and we did our best to flood social media with pictures.

So, Chickfila, you are AWESOME and not that I needed a reason to continue supporting your establishment, it was always be a favorite and holds a special place in my heart. Thank you for making dreams come true.
