11 things Thailand
Yes, more lists to conclude my month in Thailand!
11 things I ate (and/or tried:)
1. Sticky rice
2. Pad thai
3. Coconut ice cream
4. Fried chicken
5. Fried rice
6. Lots of pork
7. Pineapple, mango and other delicious fruits
8. Squid
9. Spaghetti
10. Dragon fruit
11. Bamboo
11 things I did:
1. Rode an elephant
2. Slept on a beach
3. Went to a zoo
4. Got to use a washing machine ( for the first time since July)
5. Swam in a waterfall
6. Taught a little Thai girl ‘te amo’ (I love you in Spanish)
7. Went to 7-11 (several times)
8. Wore a swim cap @ the local pool
9. Took a 12+ hr road trip in a bed of a pickup truck
10. Made concrete for bricks
11. Got a bamboo tattoo
11 things I learned:
1. Family is always there and can be found across the world
2. 7-8 hours of construction can be a nice break from preaching and praying everyday (I know that sounds horrible)
3. It feels really good to be able to see progress on a project
4. Ford makes a Ranger truck series called ‘wildtrak’ I’d totally drive
5. Riding in the bed of a pickup truck with your teammates is a bonding experience
6. Learned how to make bricks/walls
7. Choose to see Jesus in others always
8. Broken hearts don’t heal over night
9. A breakthrough with a person may be his/her wall dropping 2 inches or chips coming off
10. The Thai cultures is very hands-on. They hug you, have their arm around you, play with your hair, etc.
11. Joy can be found anywhere; even on a 8 ish hour bus ride with little kids and Thai karaoke going on.
11 people I met:
1. Gift from YWAM (2 different girls)
2. Keng – tattoo artist
3. Tik – our English translator
4. Pik – her husband
5. Sarah – their 2 year old daughter
6. Pastor Poothai – senior pastor/helps with lepersy community
7. Mama – married to pastor, runs the place
8. Tuk – local vet/son of Pastor and Mama
9. Pooh- married to Tuk and works in office at local credit union
10. Ton – one of the men we worked with doing construction ( daughters Pam and Ja)
11. Oui – another man we worked with doing construction
I still have not met my fundraising goal of $16,285 ish. I have until the end of December 2014 to meet this goal and stay on the field. If you would like to support me in this way, the easiest way is to click ‘help a sista out, please’ on the left hand side.
