Today is pie day (3.1415) and my 28th birthday. I look around me and can’t help but shake my head at my life. I am currently in Transnistria, a ‘Narnia’ of sorts. Here we are in the in-between, in the middle of a power struggle between Russia and the western world. I live with 8 other women in a room of a half-way house. I have travelled to 9 different countries in a span of 9 months, I support raised for all my funding, I have graduated 3 times, lived in my own apartment, had roommates, had a dog, held a full-time job, hung out with friends, held babies in Africa and Asia, taught English on two different continents. I could go on and on.
I know I haven’t made it here on my own. God has definitely provided for me along the way. My family and friends have always been there to love me, believe in me, and support me any way possible. I am SO very thankful they never gave up on me.
When I was frustrated with raising money, or tired of repacking for the 10th time, my sister came alongside me. While I had limited internet in Swaziland, she finished raising my support so I could stay on the Race! She read blogs to know what I should pack and helped me find the stuff. She took my pack to Houston to find a bigger hip-belt. She has stayed up late and gotten up early to talk to me on the phone when we were separated by oceans and many time zones.
I love my sister so much it hurts! She is my person, the Christina to my Meredith, the peanut butter to my jelly, the cheese to my mac & cheese, the salsa to my chips; and any other cheesy analogy you can come up with.
So to my person- Happy Birthday!!!! I love you so much – to the moon and back a million, zillion times. You are awesome. You are beautiful. You are smart. You are special. You are loved.
