I’m in Ft. Lauderdale, sitting around with some of my squadmates, enjoying the warm weather, and it’s starting to sink in… we actually leave in just a few hours! Wow. I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who makes it so hard to say goodbye! Cause, this wasn’t really a spur of the moment decision or anything. (Well, the World Race is, but not the thought of going abroad.) I’ve talked about picking up and moving to Africa for years, so I never thought it would be hard when it came time to go. I feel like I’ve been preparing to leave my whole life. So, it’s a HUGE credit to my family, friends, and church that made it hard to say goodbye to! Don’t get me wrong, I’m so excited about this, and know it will be such an incredible, life-changing year, but I can’t pretend I’m not a little sad about leaving behind so many who have made such a difference in my life. So friends, please keep me updated on your lives. Email me, skype me, leave comments on my blog, send text messages to my iPod, and know you will be missed.
With that said, take a look at where I had breakfast this morning!
Yep, we had breakfast at the beach, wearing short sleeve t-shirts!!! I may be a little sad to leave family and friends in Michigan but I WILL NOT miss the snow one bit!!!
So… we leave for the Dominican Republic TOMORROW MORNING!!! We’re leaving here at 4:30 AM! Whoo! Sooo excited to be reunited with my squad! I think having this time with my squadmates has helped pump me up and remember how I felt coming home from training camp… excited to go tackle the world with a group of amazing people all on fire for Christ! I’ll update at some point in the DR! Love you all, and I’m so thankful for all of your prayers and support. So glad I can share this next year with you 🙂
