DAY SEVENTEEN / #fortydayfloodoflove
Rejection and an Irrevocable Invitation

Here is another hard one for me to write. Ironically, it is also from Eastern Europe.
There is some cliche saying about God being a gentleman. I cannot remember it exactly but it is something along the lines of
“He will always wait outside your door. He won’t force it open or come in unannounced, but instead He waits outside patiently for an invitation.”
Well, the women in this photo both had deadbolts on their doors…with no plans of opening it anytime soon.
They had “religion” but not relationship.
They believed in the Bible, but didn’t believe they were good enough to make it to heaven.
(how does that even work? are we reading the same Bible??)
They were mad at God because they wanted to die already, but hadn’t yet. They were truly bitter towards everyone and everything in this world.
I mean… can you imagine desiring death with the belief you won’t make it into heaven?
They had no hope, and they didn’t want to entertain the idea that it might exist.
These women were unwilling to accept the Joy and Hope of Christ. They rejected His love, but God gave them irrevocable invitation to live in Heaven.
“ But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
That is what makes this story beautiful.
No matter how unworthy or unwanting we are, God still died for us. He is actively pursuing, and patiently waiting. His love for us will never change.
No matter how many times we reject Him, He will still send people to knock on our door.
