In exactly one month, my squad and I will be boarding a plane to start the first leg of our journey to Cote d’Ivoire! Here are a few updates as well as some answers to FAQs!
What have you been up to?
My last day of work was December 3rd!! Since then I was able to visit some of my squadmates in Minnesota and cut down a Christmas tree, meet up with friends over delicious food and boba, and move out of my house! I have had a great time catching up with people, and I look forward to seeing many more in the next 30 days!
How are you feeling?
I’m excited!! I can’t wait to see all that God will do over these next 11 months! I am still grateful for the next 30 days though! While packing is important, God has been continually shaping me and preparing me for the journey ahead. He wants to use all of us (yes, even if you aren’t going on the race), but we need to tune in to Him. Ask Him what plans He has in store, instead of asking Him to bless the plans you want to happen (His plans are sooo much better, just you wait and see)!!!
You’re not nervous at all?
To be honest, the only thing that makes me nervous is choosing to live comfortably. He’s given us free choice. Will we choose daily to live uncomfortably, surrender, and obediently follow Him WHEREVER He leads? Or will we sink back into our own comfort zones and want to be in control because things are just too hard?
I have a future post coming that explains this a little better (that may include a rap – with audio)!
Have you reached your financial goal for the trip?
Not yet, but I’m almost there!! Thank you so much to everyone who has already supported me! I am greatly encouraged by your generosity and your giving heart!
Prayer requests?
– That my squadmates and I would pray BIG prayers. Don’t put God in a box based on what you think He can do, because man He wants to do so much more!!
– We would prepare well (mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually).
– Some of my teammates are still waiting for their visas and passports to come back from the embassy.
– For my parents. I by no means am a parent, but I’m sure it’s difficult seeing your child head off to a variety of countries. Pray that they would be comforted during this time and know that I’m in God’s hands, and He’s looking out for me too! And please shoot them an e-mail/fb them or take them out to coffee and see how they’re doing!!
