FRIENDS,
Sorry it has been so long!
My squad is currently in Lima, Peru. We have been in Lima for just a few days now. For the past 6 weeks, we were in Quito, Ecuador and in the mountains above Quito.
My team was in Quito the day the protests and riots started in the city (October 3rd). We left the city the next day and stayed in the mountains where we did ministry and waited out the riots for almost two weeks.
We were enclosed and entirely safe the whole time. The Lord got us out of the city just in time and brought us to a beautiful place of refuge. He comforted, cared for, and provided for us completely.
We lived in the clouds!

We partnered with a ministry that took in and cared for women who were victims of sex trafficking. They also provide the women with classes, and they worship with them and share about Jesus. While we were there, we helped them with construction projects. We mixed concrete and poured it into the wall surrounding the property in order to make the wall higher. We also dug ten 5’ holes for the foundation of a house that will be where future World Race teams and other volunteers will stay when they come to serve.

Our travel to Peru was delayed one week due to the riots Ecuador. The airport was closed for several days, and many of the main roads were blocked.
While we were “stuck” on the mountain, we had the amazing opportunity to spend more time with a missionary couple from the States who had moved to Ecuador a little over a year ago. They were a huge blessing to all of us. They felt like home.
One evening, they invited us over to their home for hot chocolate and a worship session on their roof! We overlooked the twinkling lights of Quito, and we praised the Lord and prayed for the city.
Another night, I spoke to the squad about intercession, and the next day we began a 24-hour prayer time for the city of Quito, for Ecuador, and for the Ecuadorian people and their government. During the squad’s 24-hour prayer session, the riots ceased! The government came to an agreement with the indigenous leaders on a televised negotiation in the evening of October 13th.
Our travel plans were interrupted, sure, but I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else.
There were also some pretty adorable puppies (I miss you, Pearl).

ALSO…
Our host here in Lima has given us the opportunity to do ministry in Cusco for one week.
Cusco is a very touristy city. Many international people visit from all over the world, and there are lots of opportunities to talk to and minister to people!
There is an additional expense for this, so I am asking for your help! I will need an extra $400 for the week in Cusco. This includes accommodation expenses and travel expenses from Lima to Cusco then from Cusco back to Lima (the bus ride is about 24 hours long).
You can donate to me through the Venmo app: @kellycunning (or you can make a check out to me and send it to my home address/hand it to my parents for them to deposit into my account).

***UPDATE 10/28: I only need $150 more to reach my goal!***

Thank you so much! God bless!
