Here we are! The half-way point of the Race.

Honestly, lately there have been days when I have felt completely over it. It is so easy to get complacent no matter where you are or what you are doing or who you are with. It is so easy to think of it as just another country, just another city, just another host, just another interaction with a stranger, just another team time.

As I have struggled with feeling like I have lost my fire, I have been remembering some of my experiences on the Race so far.

Many strangers have been welcomed to our dinner table.

We have been welcomed to many strangers’ dinner tables.

I have witnessed the way a little vulnerability touches souls and breaks down walls.

I have marveled at the faith of children and the way they love and accept others.

I have felt the Lord remove all fear and replace it with an overflow of peace.

I have seen spiritual chains break and people delivered from strongholds.

I have seen the way a little kindness and compassion heals deep emotional wounds.

I have seen a Muslim woman’s eyes light up after hearing the name of Jesus for the first time.

I have witnessed God break down language barriers so His Word could be understood.

I have listened in amazement as a young Muslim woman told me she had just started to read the Bible and already her husband had noticed a change in her.

I have witnessed physical healings.

I have witnessed prophesies coming true.

I have seen a young woman recommit her life to Christ.

I have felt the Lord changing my heart.

This is just the smallest taste of my journey so far, and I have the privilege to spend 5 more months out on the field!

Lord, remind myself and my squad about why we are here. Help us cultivate and tend to our hearts. Help us not to let our hearts get numb or hardened— keep them soft and tender toward others. Ignite our hearts with fresh passion, and renew our minds and spirits. Give us fresh vision and motivation. Help us to actively seek You and pursue what You have for us each day. Help us to choose You and one another every single day. Help us remember that every breath and every day is a miracle.
