I want you to know that in the time I have been here God has allowed my spirit to feel your pain, your sorrow and desperation for Him. Your history is so rich, and to know that so much of your history has happened in my lifetime, is even more devastating. To know that humanity can be so cruel and torture was so prevalent in this area. I’m sorry for the lost lives and the meaningless persecutions. When I saw the places that this cruelty took place my heart just .broke Why wasn’t there anything anyone could do to stop it? Why did it continue for so long? Was it the selfishness of humanity that pushes people in power to believe that they can destroy lives like that?
I cannot believe that just in the past 11 years the healing and rebuilding have begun. My hope and prayer for Cambodia is that in the REBUILDING of their country, God’s spirit becomes more present and available to the people here. I am thankful that in Cambodia people have a choice on their religious preference. I cannot help but believe some of that freedom of choice has happened due to some of the despair and loss they have felt. I am reminded in times of despair, God shows up in big ways and allows us to step in and be His presence in places near and far to us. The same thing has happened for us with things like “Katrina”. There is a rebuilding going on, and with that God works thru the tragedy to bring New Life. I know that Cambodia is welcoming that “new life”. I pray that as we are here, we share God in Amazing ways to show them the promise and hope of freedom in Christ.
I am looking forward to the ways God is going to use my “new team” here in Cambodia. This month we will be serving in Kampong Cham, a province that still is in the rebuilding process. We won’t have electricity and will have a generator on for a couple hours a day to do the things we need to do. Pray for the people of this community, pray for us to make an impact on their lives for Christ. Hopefully we will find a way to communicate and get blogs posted, if not, we will catch up on our way to Thailand.
