“Lately, I’ve been working hard on my commitment to the home team.  Everybody has a home team: it’s the people you call when you get a flat tire or when something terrible happens.  It’s the people who, near or far, know everything that’s wrong with you and love you anyway.  The home team people are the ones you can text with five minutes notice, saying, I’m on my way, and I’m bringing tacos”

 – Bittersweet, Shauna Niequist

Shauna sums it up so well when defining the #hometeam.  There isn’t a set number that can join.  People will come and go on your hometeam as you grow and develop.  You can be selective in who joins your hometeam.  A simpler term for this would be community.  One thing that I’ve learned throughout the process of applying is that having a solid hometeam back in the states is essential before leaving the race.  These are the people that are going to stand by you through the ups and downs before your launch date.  They are going to pray day in and day out for you and your squad.  Your hometeam is going to be pushing you towards your finish line when the only thought in your mind is that you can’t do this.  They are your cheer section, your prayer warriors, your biggest supporters.  I am always looking for more people to be a part of my hometeam!  Anyone and everyone can join me in this journey.  The motto here is the more the merrier!

The question is do you want to be a part of my #hometeam??!

Here are 5 ways that you can!

1. Subscribe to my blog! JUST DO IT! You won’t regret it. I will keep you thoroughly entertained throughout this journey!

2. Become a prayer warrior!  Bottom line, I need prayers. My squad needs prayers. Lots of them. Every day. All the time. It’s hard to believe but I need this more than money!

3. Support me financially!  If you feel led and would like to support me financially, I would be so appreciative.  Visit the “Support Me” Link at the top left hand side of my blog.  You can donate one time or become a monthly donor.  I thank you in advance for any amount that you can give!

4. Fundraise with me!  I will be posting upcoming fundraisers to help me reach my total!  Tshirts, cards, and dine in nights are on their way.  Check back for updates and follow me on social media as well.  Also, if you have been successful with any other types of fundraisers, please let me know!  No need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to raising money.

5. Send me words of encouragement! These next 17 months of my life are going to be the most challenging.  I am going to have good days and bad days.  Words of encouragement, uplifting bible verses, or quotes are great ways to raise my spirits!  Leave them here in my blog or on social media pages.

I know that when I leave I will have a hometeam ready to stand strong and support me through my journey.  They will be there to see me off and bring me home.  I hope to take a little piece of each of you with me, keep you in my heart and prayers, and leave your mark across the world.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”   Hebrews 10:24-25
