Yesterday, out team had our first experience working with the children out reach hear in Romania. It was a short walk from were we are staying this month. It was held in what use to be and old school building. Living Hope, rents about three rooms there and hope to be using it more often as their ministry grows here.
When we arrived at the building there were a few kids out there to greet us. They were exactly there to greet our team but Vale and Marius. The two guys that had been showing us around the city and making sure we got were we need to go. All of the kids were running around and playing games. They didn’t seem to take any notice of us at first but that soon change. After the usual hello and what your name and age, we began the program. It started of with a song that we sang last Sunday and then broke off in to three separate groups. Side note real quick, it was cool to see these kids getting into the song as Kristy (our contact) lead them.
The groups that we got into were little kids between the ages of 5-7, girls and boys. Scott and I were put with the boys. we kind waited around at first just waiting for Vale to hand out the memory versus of the week and then we began the fuss-ball tournament. I was chose to be the partner of a boy that had one of the coolest looking mullet that I have ever seen. I wish I could tell you his name but I never found that out. We didn’t speak much to each other but we worked well together because we won 2 out of the three matches that we played. By the end of the third match we were giving each other high fives. I don’t know much about the boy but from what I could tell he was kind of shy which I could relate to.
Anyways after our last match that we won, time was up and all three groups came back together to work on a interpretative dance that they had been working on for a couple of week. They will be performing it in front of the church in a couple of weeks from now. I hope to tell you more about it then but for now I think that it’s time for me to go.
Talk to all of you later.
