The World Racers are getting ready to wrap up our month here in Peru. So much has happened, I hope these pictures will give you a sense of the miracles the Lord has done this month!

Perhaps the most notable is this….

A Church Plant!

When we first stepped foot onto Tumpa we all knew it was impossible. I knew that this month would push me, force me to depend on the Lord more. It was impossible to plant a brand new church in this town in a month. There was a strong spirit of deception, of false religion, worshipping idols. The town was torn apart by gossip and division. We learned from our brother, Abhram, that when he moved to these mountains years ago, the Catholics threw stones at him and called him a devil worshiper. We needed to Lord to go before us, we needed to drop to our knees in prayer.

Mallorie and a few others, myself included, felt burdened for intercession. To stay back from the door to door ministry and teachings and go to our Lord in prayer. We asked the Lord to break the strongholds over Tumpa, to bring his children out into the streets to meet us, to use us to bring his truth and his light to the lost. It was the Lord’s will to see Tumpa set free, and we are so blessed that he used us, that he allowed us to be a part of it.

After one month on ministry in Tumpa, over 30 people have come to the Lord (and Louisa was brought home to her Father). Pedro and Josue, the local pastors, have secured a location for a home church and this body is now meeting twice a week… right down the street from the Catholic Church. Oh, and did I mention, there was major resistance towards us when we arrived, we heard at one point there were flyers posted and announcements to the people not to talk to us or open their doors to us. But our God is victorious, we never felt much of this, people were so warm, loving and open to us and to the true Word of God! We know that our prayers were heard, that God went before us!

It may not look like your church back home, there are no plasma screens or bright lights. In fact, the roof leaks onto the dirt floor! And people come!!! Praise God!

Miracle number two… God’s children! Each Saturday we held a youth event at the plaza and this last Saturday there were over 25 children there to meet Jesus!

We were able to give many of them their very own bibles. Again, Praise God! A special thank you to all of our supporters who donated for Peru Bibles.

Oh, and God sent a little gift to us, his name was Lobo. This neighborhood dog totally adopted the entire World Race. He followed us to and from Tumpa, every day.

He even came to church with us, although we have to work on his concentration! Hey Lobo, no falling asleep in church!

Chad was blessed with the chance to preach at the Baptist church on Easter Sunday, and Chris was invited back the next Sunday to preach again! Both of them were filled with the Spirit of the Lord and we were encouraged by the Body of Christ in Peru!

Although, they did serve us “brain soup” for lunch, no kidding! ARGH!

Here is another Peruvian delicacy, ginny pig, again, no kidding! This little guy was likely our dinner a few hours later!

And check out this Peruvian treat.. avocado and banana sandwich. (Actually, this was just all we had in our backpacks during a hike to the lakes).

And I will never forget our first class travel accommodations, we regularly put 8-9 of us in these hatch backs… two in the front passenger seat, 4 in the back and 2-3 in the TRUNK! Guess where I usually fit!!!

I guess it could be worse… we could follow this kid on his pig!

And just how many girls can you fit on one twin bed in front of a 15 inch laptop to watch a movie, World Race style???

Oh, ad Mom, I tried my luck at hand washing laundry this trip.

Only after a little hiking accident involving a mud slide. No worries, nothing was hurt, except my pride!

As we say our good byes to Emilio
and many other friends in Peru, please join us and keep this community in your prayers!
