Wow.. orientation has felt like about 40 years long and I am VERY ready to leave Georgia and get going! Not too much longer and we officially leave for… Tacloben, Philippines!.. tomorrow morning on a fourteen hour flight. We will be based at the Kids International Ministry.. which we don’t know a lot about yet but it sounds like an area in need.
Tacloben is a tropical rainforest climate, and we are there during the rainy season, which means that it rains an average of 300mm each month we are there (thunderstorms & downpours every day). The average temperature during the day is around 30 degrees. There is still a lot of destruction from the typhoon that hit in November 2013 and it killed just over 6,000 people, and flattened almost every structure.
