African loved it in Botswana!
But seriously, Botswana was absolutely amazing.
SO since I rarely had wifi and you guys probably had no idea what I was doing these months before heading home I’m going to briefly let you know.
In Tsabong I lived with my team of 5 other girls (we were called Team Swans) along with another Team- Team Lion King! We were blessed enough to have a trailer with bunk beds to sleep in, and another trailer with a refrigerator, bathroom, and kitchen!
Our average day in Tsabong looked like this…
8:30 wake up
8:30- 10:00 breakfast/bible time/journaling
10-12 outreach ministry: my team would visit widows and other families living in our town
12-2 down time
2-6 ministry: visiting the family living next to the church, organizing games for the local kids after school
Personally, my favorite part of each day was when the local kids would show up after school and we would spend time playing soccer, clapping games, or just holding them. Lots of these kiddos come from broken homes and live with their grandmother while their mom finds work in a neighboring town. I loved getting to love on the sweet children of Tsabong (even if at times you wouldn’t have known that they’re actually sweet- like when fights broke out).
Botswana for me was also just a joyful time of pursuing the Lord. I was constantly in the word and as a result God really revealed more of himself and his heart to me. My team challenged each other and pursued the Lord together through sermons and discussions- and as a result I grew exponentially. I couldn’t have asked for a better team, location, or ministry while in Botswana- it was truly a blessing to finish off the race on such a positive note with my best friends by my side!
Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey. Your prayers and financial support mean the world to me. I can honestly say that had I not taken this year off my walk with the Lord, and vision for the future would not even be close to where it is today. Your investment in me has, quite literally, changed me into the person I am today and I could not be more grateful!
See you soon USA!
With all my love,
Kelly
