Imagine: 22,000 students dancing uncontrollably for their King, singing praises to the Lord most High, digging into God's word together and striving to bring some justice to this world by supporting social justice ministries abroad.  Welcome to Passion 2011.  I had the privilege of attending this conference, and being rocked by God in HUGE ways.  I would love to process with you, through various blogs, sharing the lessons the Holy Spirit revealed to me, and the raw thoughts He is still providing me with.

  • We are part of a generation where we can change the world.
  • We need to make our lives count for Jesus/ Tonight is a night of beginnings
  • Philippians 1:1 (Starts out with the name Paul). Story of redemption- Saul became Paul.
  • Paul’s take on being in prison- GOOD because he showed that he was in chains for CHRIST.  The truth he carried went through the prison guards.
  • “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” Philippians 1:21

To live: doesn’t mean living a portion of your life for Christ, living a good life and then embracing Christ at the end, or living for ourselves and Christ. To live is CHRIST. The end.  And to die…to so many of us, that means sadness, the end, a lack of experiencing what we believe the future holds for us.  NO!  To die is GAIN…wait what?  If we truly understood the beauty of heaven, and what it will look like to live eternity with our Lord, we would all want to leave this world.  BUT, God commands us to stay here, to live out the name of Jesus, to share the beauty of the future with people longing for fulfillment in this world.  Paul fully understands this concept, and while he yearns to go and be with his Father, he knows that it would be better for others for him to remain here.  So he makes every opportunity count!  Even living in a prison, chained to another prisoner!  He understands that circumstances do not affect our relationship with Jesus, or at least they shouldn’t.  No circumstance can keep us from being free and fully alive in Christ.  Jesus remains the same every day….every day.  Every day He died for us, every day He is here, loving us, pursuing us.  It is just up to us to pursue and love Him right back.  But the beauty of it all is that even if we don’t, He remains.  Wow.   Louie talked about how we preach our own funeral.  At the end of our life, people are not going to stand up and make up the way we lived our life.  What we lived for is what they will preach.  What do I want people to preach at my funeral?  My desire is that they will talk about my love for the Lord and obedience to His word.  I pray that they will talk about how I carried the name of Jesus wherever I went and that my relationship with Him was NOT circumstantial, but a constant outpouring of awe for my Maker.

What do you want preached at your funeral? Who do you want to live your life for?
