The moments I live for.
When little Beanie comes running up to me with his crazy
joyful smile, literally leaps into my arms and plants a big one on my cheek.
When beautiful one gives me her squinty eyed smile and tells
me she loves me.
When I am called “Tita (Auntie) by 20-30 precious Filipino
girls.
When I am completely sweaty, out of breath and absolutely
filthy from playing with children who don’t often receive the love they should.
When I hear a little girl, who I know has a history of being
sexually abused by more than one person, listening to my I-pod and singing the
Lord’s love, peace and healing over herself.
When I hear “Tita Kelly and “Kelly Kelly shouted from
outside the compound, calling me outside to play.
When beautiful one takes me to visit her mom and little
sister at her home and I can’t help but notice that there is only one room and
one bed for 6 people. But she is still so proud to show me.
When sweetheart comes up to me, kisses me on the cheek and
tells me I am important.
When Nica says, in the midst of talking about her hard past,
“God is so nice. He has changed my life;
He has taken my fear away.
When I am able to tuck in, pray with and kiss goodnight 26
beautiful girls, and then wake up at 6am to them patting my head.
When Nica tells me she will be praying for me to come back
someday.
These moments fill me up.
These are the moments I live for.
Lord, these are your beloved.

These children mean so much to me.
