“…his voice was the sound of many waters…” Revelation 1:15
I love this is how John describes the voice of Christ.
It makes me think of how water can eventually break through things seemingly impenetrable… like stone. I have seen in my own life how powerful the voice of God is. I have never audibly heard His voice, but in countless occasions in my life, He has spoken directly into my heart.
He has told me to ask for forgiveness, love people I would rather hate, ask Him for the impossible, humble myself, fight for my destiny, forgive myself….
God’s voice is so powerful and His Word is true.
At the end of June, my squad had a few days off in Zambia to rest and recharge. While we were there, thanks to our very generous squad coaches who paid our way, we got to see Victoria Falls in Livingstone. One of the 7 natural wonders of the world. Thank you Sharon and Bobby!
I stood at the falls, soaking wet, and closed my eyes.
The sound of the falls was beautiful and consuming. I couldn’t hear anything else, not anyone’s voice around me, just the falls.
I can’t imagine what it must have been like for John to hear the voice of Christ. If it sounded anything like the falls in Livingstone, it must have been beautiful and fearsome at the same time.
Someday I will hear the voice of Christ for myself, and my heart’s desire is to hear Him say, “Well done,” but until that time, just my memory of Victoria Falls will have to do.
I challenge you to sit in silence today for just a few moments and ask God to speak to you.
