Adventure probably should have been my middle name.

Kelly “Adventure” Franke. Has a nice ring to it, right? I think it could even sound good if my mom was yelling it when she was mad! I mean, that’s all middle names are good for anyway, right? –  Don’t get me wrong, Linn is a lovely middle name, but if I could pick my middle name like the guys in the movies, I would totally pick adventure.

For my first blog post I was supposed to introduce myself. After thinking about what really paints of a picture of who I am, I realized that adventures are what I’m known for.

So, I’ll get into deeper stuff about myself in other blogs, but for now…

I’m Kelly the Adventurer. It’s my blog so I can do whatever I want, right?

If it were up to me I’d be barefoot everyday, climbing the tallest tree, sitting on the roof nearby, jumping in bodies of water fully clothed, or roaming through the jungle.

And although I’d never admit it, I totally judge peoples coolness level by their willingness to adventure with me.

Me literally roaming the Hawaiian jungle. Casual day. ———————>

When I was a kid my Dad had to get me specific tree climbing clothes, because I would ruin my nice clothes with tree sap. (He eventually built me a beautiful tree house, but I still preferred to just climb the regular tree!). For my friends birthdays, I don’t give them gifts, I take them on birthday adventures. It’s become a tradition that they expect, and I enjoy!

3 years ago, God sent me on an adventure 3,000 miles away to attend Elim Bible Institute. I’m now graduating in May! Woot woot! 🙂 – My friends are now starting to get full-time jobs, scholarships to continue their education, and doing many other great things. However, when I thought of settling down and doing all that right now… I felt physically ill. Trapped would be a good word to describe it.

The adventure bone is my body was itching! I’ve lived in a little town called Lima, with 1 stop light, for the past 3 years. The air smells like cow, and I’m pretty sure it’s colder here than at Santa’s workshop. I’ve worked an unhealthy amount of hours to pay for school, and in my free time I do homework. Luckily, God told me this was all preparation for the future.

I realize that adventures don’t always look as exciting and tromping through the jungle. And as I began to pray about what the next step would look like for me, I was open to whatever God had. If more schooling right away was what He had, then I’m sure it would be wonderful. If I was supposed to pump gas, great. If I was supposed to move to Antarctica and hang out with penguins, even better. Whatever God has, is what I want.

Want to hear the greatest part? God knows the desires of my heart, because He placed them there! I‘m always on the look out for the next adventure, the next place to explore, the next thing to discover. And I don’t believe that is within me on accident. God knows the desires of our hearts, and when we surrender them to Him, He fulfills them beyond anything we could ever imagine! God tells us that He literally knit us together in our Mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13), and I like to think that adventuring was literally knit into my DNA.

Right now, God is sending me on an adventure of a lifetime.

Through a series of events I have been accepted on this adventure of a lifetime: The World Race. I get to travel to 11 countries and do more things in 1 year than I thought I’d ever do in my life, while sharing Jesus with the world! Is this even real life?! Yes, yes it is. I’m one lucky gal.
