B Squad launched on the World Race in October 2011. We arrived back on US soil at the end of August 2012. We have been off the field for 1 year, 8 months. Here’s what we’re up to now… 

  

ALYSSA RAINBOLT

AGE: 26

OCCUPATION: I work at Not For Sale, engaging professional athletes (primarily MLB players) as advocates in the fight against human trafficking. 

LOCATION: San Francisco, California 

HIGHLIGHT: Besides all the World Race weddings I’ve been to, my highlight was backpacking and rock climbing in the wilderness of the Absarokas in Wyoming in June 2013. I completed an Outdoor Educator Course with National Outdoor Leadership School.
 
 

ANDREW INGRASSIA

AGE: 27

OCCUPATION: Squad leading B-Squad, 3rd Generation

HIGHLIGHT: Walking in my true identity as a son of God!!
 
 

ASH GARDNER

 

AGE: 27

OCCUPATION: Creative Manager for SiteHouse Designs and Promise Tangeman (who is an awesome Christian woman designer with amazing skills). It’s been amazing working for her, and now I get to work remotely and travel to California.   

LOCATION: NYC

HIGHLIGHT: Married David, fellow B squader; found out he got the job at Sports Illustrated the week of our wedding (crazy!); moved to New York 
 
 

BECCA BRADFORD

AGE: 28

OCCUPATION: I split my time between making flowers pretty & pretty people (AKA Florist & Hairstylist!) 

LOCATION: Umatilla, Florida

HIGHLIGHT: Weddings!!! Between friends and work, I have been a part of at least 30 weddings in the last year. I have loved helping to create the weddings my friends and clients have dreamed up, as well as hearing the love stories that the Lord has created! Some of them have been B-Squad weddings, which turn into reunions. It has been so incredible to see my WR family all over the States! Ain’t no party like a B-Squad party!

BRANDON BOYD

AGE: 29

OCCUPATION: Family Car Reconditioning Business

LOCATION: Vancouver, WA

HIGHLIGHT: In the last year and a half I have driven across the country twice. The second was in a U-Haul filled with Rachel’s belongings, headed to my hometown in Washington after our honeymoon. We have decided to spend this year intently focused on our marriage to create a solid foundation.

BRIAN COOKE

AGE: 24

OCCUPATION: Helping host World Race and Passport teams and all of Z Squad; trying to serve people and be Jesus to the people of Malawi 

LOCATION: Senga Bay, Malawi (with Zehandi Ministries)

HIGHLIGHT: I got my hip replaced; got to help out with 3 training camps; moved back to Malawi!
 
 

BRITTANY ROSSIE (formerly Jennings) 

AGE: 25

OCCUPATION: I’m a language student in preparation for moving to the mission field full time

LOCATION: Currently living in Antigua, Guatemala but will be moving to Nicaragua more permanently in a few months

HIGHLIGHT: When I returned from the Race, I worked for a pro-life non-profit (The National Institute of Family and Life Advocates); got married in October; traveled across the US to raise support for full-time ministry; moved to Guatemala in January!

OCCUPATION: Teaching Assistant in a kindergarten classroom 

LOCATION: Williamston, North Carolina

HIGHLIGHT: I work in a high poverty area, and I get to love children whose parents are in jail or have been killed, as well as some who don’t have parents and live in a foster home. I’ve had to learn that loving these children is a ministry in itself, even if my job title is “teacher” rather than “missionary”. 

 

CHRISSY ROBERTSON

AGE: 25

OCCUPATION: Full-time job hunt; embracing the opportunity I have to travel around and see friends and family, as relationships are my number one priority at this point

HIGHLIGHT: Spending Christmas as a family, including my older brother who found us while I was on the race. It was God’s grace and pure happiness. 🙂

OCCUPATION: Cosmetologist; pursuing dream to open a salon for women of human trafficking

HIGHLIGHT: Since being home from the race I have had a lot of struggles, but the Lord has showed me just how beautiful he is through the trials. He has taught me even in the silence of his voice that he is constantly speaking to my heart and teaching me new things! I’m so much stronger that I was a year and a half ago, but I know I have a long way to go until I’m the woman of god I was made to be. 🙂

JORDAN DALE

HIGHLIGHT: The last year and a half has been a complete blur. Scholastically, I’ve done well since my return to Auburn, which is night and day to the dismal academic career I had before. Emotionally, it’s been a complete roller coaster, full of personal revelations and low lows and high highs. However, I’m better than I’ve ever been.

OCCUPATION: I am in graduate school studying Family and Consumer Sciences for Family Services and work as a graduate assistant in a child practicum lab

HIGHLIGHT: Taking what God taught me from the Race and trying to implement it into my life here, continually learning how to invest in people and love them well. I started volunteering at our local homeless shelter regularly, and that has been the highlight of my time back. I learn so much from my friends there. I want them to feel valued and appreciated. And my second highlight has been watching my nephew grow up (he is in the picture with me).

HIGHLIGHT: I traveled to Honduras for two months to create a short film for a ministry that is working to rescue teens from the dangerous neighborhood of Los Pinos. I also had the opportunity to attend a life-changing leadership academy in Spain that has empowered and developed me into the man I need to be to pursue God-sized dreams.

OCCUPATION: Katrina works for Samaritan’s Purse; Paul is a a chef de partie at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel

Katrina – Hiking, skiing and exploring in the Canadian Rocky Mountains; getting a puppy!

HIGHLIGHT: Dating Caleb, a wonderful man of God who also wants to head to the mission field long term in Albania. God writes the best, craziest stories for our lives. Seriously.
 
 

THOMAS AND STACEY WENSIL (met on B Squad)

AGE: Both are 26

OCCUPATION:

Stacey is currently a 7th grade remedial reading teacher, hoping to transition into a more full time endeavor with the27project in the coming year. 

I (Thomas) have been substitute teaching and have discovered that kindergarten is not part of my calling. If fact, I am too much of a sucker and kind-hearted person to teach anything. Although, teaching here in Waco reminds me fondly of having snotty-nosed African children hanging from my limbs. I am looking forward to getting this debt paid off and moving back to Cambodia. 

The goal for both of us is to pack up and ship ourselves to Cambodia in the Summer of 2015!

HIGHLIGHT: Spain was nice, but WE GOT MARRIED!! Enough said.

 

TRESSA CLAY 

AGE: 23

OCCUPATION: I work with three adult men with autism, as well as a fifteen-year-old autistic boy. We do different types of therapies, I help them with daily tasks and see that they continue to have awesome lives!

LOCATION: Springfield, MO 

HIGHLIGHT: Although it was an extremely long and difficult process, I finally got past my pride, quit nursing and started over in school with social work. I want to continue in my passion of working with people with autism. So thankful to finally be where the Lord wants me!

 

VIVIAN ZAVALA (aka Miss Honduras)

AGE: 25

OCCUPATION: In the past 1.5 years, I have been a part of some awesome companies that serve others. The first was Xealots, in which I was able to lead week-long trips to my favorite place on earth – Bangkok, Thailand. I then put together a leadership gathering with elite people like Shane Claiborne, Francis Chan, Che Ahn, Circuit Riders, Michael Ketterer, as well as various CEOs and other ministry leaders from all over the world (check it out – loveSA). In December I jump started my teaching career at a Lutheran school and continue the process of completing my master’s in education. And, if that doesn’t get you to sit on the edge of your chair, I just purchased my first car EVER!! I’m loving my black Honda Civic!

WADE CARLTON

AGE: 26

OCCUPATION: Project Manager for Andrew Roby General Contractors (helping homeowners build the home of their dreams!); dating Kearston Armbrust (met on B Squad)

HIGHLIGHT: Signing up for an Ironman in September in Wisconsin
