How did it get to be September?  September is the month I leave!  That means this is the month I leave!  I can hardly believe that I only have 25 days until I get on a plane with my only my backpack, a carry on…and my guitar.

So what do these next 25 days hold?  Here’s a brief rundown…

I have ten days left here in Boulder to say goodbye to three years of life and relationships.  On September 12th I finish up work at First Pres. and head out in the Jetta towards Georgia.  I’ll hopefully be spending the night in Kansas City and spending a little time at IHOP (International House of Prayer) on my way.  I’ll arrive in Rome late on the 13th or early on the 14th.  I’ll have a little less than two weeks to spend with my parents, saying goodbye and dealing with all those pesky details like switching my car registration and making sure they’re set up on my bank account.  I’ll enjoy as many home cooked meals as possible, a few final warm showers, and a little bit of independence and alone time.  And then, on September 27th, I’ll board a plane from Atlanta to LA and from LA to the Philippines…not knowing exactly when I’ll set foot back on American soil.  And that’s ok!  I am ready to go, knowing that everything changes when I get on that plane.  Everything is already changing.

Once we get to the Philippines, we’ll spend a little more time training in Manila…and then Team Quake (that’s me!), along with the Transformers, will hop on a short flight to Mindanao, the second largest island.  We’ll spend our first month of ministry (pending any changes…change is good, change is good!) at the Mindinao Children’s Home, a part of Kid’s International Ministry.  Check out www.kidsim.org and go to “Mindinao Children’s Home” under the “Locations” tab.  And please just look at these little peanuts that I’ll get to love on for a month!

Support Update:  I currently have $11,092 in my account.  That is huge!  Thank you all so much for supporting me financially and for being so generous!  Add to that another $1800 or so in pledges and I am very close to reaching my goal!  I’ve just finished purchasing flights for training camp and launch, and my health insurance for the year.  Those are all things I can be reimbursed for if I raise enough money.  We’re so close!  Another $2500 would pay for everything I need for this trip!  So if God may be leading you to give financially, just click the “Support Me” link on the left to donate online.  You can give a one time donation or a recurring monthly pledge.  Or “Contact Me” for information about how you can mail in a donation.  I can’t wait to see how the Lord uses our combined commitments to advance His Kingdom around the world!
