The philippines may be more humid than Georgia (actually without a doubt it absolutely is) but this country is more beautiful than I ever imagined. Man sweat is now becoming normal to me, but I am falling in the love with this country. As we walk down the streets of the slum area across from where we have been staying, the people have such happiness in their faces as they yell “hello” and “hi” to us. We have been staying this past week at a ministry center in Manilla run by American missionaries, and have been spoiled with showers, beds, fans, wireless internet, and meals cooked for us. As we prepare to go to our first ministry location, we know we are now on the World Race when our “amenities” include electricity. But thankfully we are going to continue to be blessed this month with bathrooms, electricity, and water.

My team and I are super excited to get to our ministry location because we have been assigned to threads of hope! This is the ministry that makes the bracelets that I have been selling this summer as a fundraiser. Several of us on my team sold the bracelets and we are so excited to meet the people who make them and be a further part of their ministry. I cannot wait to post pictures and show everyone who bought bracelets what they are supporting! Threads of Hope is in Puerto Galera on the island of Mindoro. So we will be traveling very bright and early monday morning (4:30am bright and early!) by bus and then by ferry.

Now that my jet lag is finally over (it took two days to get here and I officially skipped September 14th thanks to the time zones) I am so excited to be with these girls and do the ministry that God has laid out for us. It’s been hard for me to be 12 hours away from home this week, but I could not ask for a greater group of girls to be here with. The Philippines is an amazing country, and such a great one to start my World Race. The Trike rides are a little scary, but karaoke in the street is super fun. yes, they love their karaoke and it is everywhere. The people are amazing and love to talk to us, and we are having so much fun playing with the kids. I cant wait to write about Threads of Hope and participate in their ministry! Thank you for all your prayers!
