Today was one of the hardest and most beautiful days of ministry that I have ever experienced. Today our squad went to the dumpster and fed 200 people. I was overwhelmed with emotion when we arrived. About 200-250 families live in and call the dumpster home. They share living quarters with vultures, dogs, cows, and thousands of pounds of trash. Shortly after we arrived a lady named Luz who lives in the dumpster walked up and hugged me. She shared that she has breast cancer, immediately myself and some girls from my squad prayed for her healing. After we prayed she shared that she also had knots in her stomach I laid my hand on her stomach to feel them and they were quarter to golf ball size. One of my squad mates prayed that the knots would no longer exist, as I had my hand on the knots. Luz and I continued to have conversation after we prayed. I asked her if she was in pain before we prayed for her and she said yes, however after we prayed she felt better. One of my squadmates walked up and I shared with him that I believed that God was going to perform a miracle in her body. He told her what I said and her response was He already did. I then met a man named Franklin who has been living in the dumpster for 2 years, he shared that he has two children and that tomorrow is the birthday of one of them. He shared that he wished that he could get presents. At that moment I had the opportunity to share with him that his love for his children will always be a greater gift than any material thing. I was then able to talk with him about Gods love and pray with him. I met Fannie, Alexandria, and Catelina too, all precious, joyful and full of gratitude. Today I learned that the Father has beautiful and valuable treasures even in dumpsters and His power and love are operative in their lives also.
