We arrived in San Vincente, El Salvador on Friday. It’s a beautiful little town right outside of San Salvador. Up until now I really haven’t been stretched or challenged too much in the area of community living. Over the last few days I have had many expectations completely thrown out. For me having no running water has never been an issue, I’ve always had more than enough and flushing the toilet came with no second thought. I’ve been used to showering whenever I want, and wash clothes when I want to as well. That has all changed! This month baby wipes have become my best friend, and prayers that no ones urine splashes on me when I use the bathroom are often spoken. I’ve never known what it meant to truly go without, and at the same token I feel like I’ve never known this depth of thankfulness. As a community my team and I are becoming more unified as a result of the ways in which we are being stretched. Though I would prefer my comforts, they are now no longer a primary focus, I am learning to do life in El Salvador! We begin ministry tomorrow and I’m so excited to see what the Lord has in store. This month we will be doing lots of skits, evangelism, praying for the sick, sharing testimonies, and facilitating worship services in different communities. El Salvador means “the Savior” and I know He is going to be exalted through our team and squad.
