This week my team and I spent 4 days building a dam for a tilapia pond that will feed many people once it's complete. When I first heard that we were doing that I wasn't thrilled because the area where the pond will be is filled with mud and animal feces. My team and I made up in our minds that we were going to have a positive attitude and make it fun, and that's just what we did. I had some of the best conversations with the girls on my team and squad this week. Everything remained pretty routine for the first few days up at 5am, arrive in the city at about 630, arrive at the pond between 830-930am, then digging boulders and getting muddy and dirty in the process. Wednesday night, my team and I went on the rooftop where we listened to worship music, and journaled as the Holy Spirit spoke to our hearts. As a team we have been doing weekly bible study on the Holy Spirit and His purpose and function in our lives. We have all been in a place of expecting His divine interruptions in our every day lives. Yesterday, our day started off as the rest of the week, but that soon changed. As we were on the way to the pond, the truck we were in started to make a grinding noise, so we stopped at an auto service store and got the part needed. A man from the store then got under the truck to put on the part and the truck started rolling backwards. We screamed Jesus and one of the girls from my team was in the middle front seat. She quickly got in the drivers seat and put on the breaks. The man under the car was inches away from getting his head crushed by the front wheel of the F350 and those of us in the truck were just feet from rolling down a hill. Immediately, I was told to go into the shop and talk to the man who almost got ran over about Jesus. Myself and two squad mates went in, I talked to the man about the Lord's love for Him and His protection over his life. He shared that he believes in Jesus and was very receptive to us as we prayed for him. That was the beginning of the day's divine interruptions… After we finished working at the pond, we were on the way to take hot showers when we got stuck in a socialist protest which was crazy. They don't like North Americans so we had to duck down in the car. Ms. Teresa (the ministry contact we were serving for the week) safely got us out of harms way. The protest was going on right in front of the restaurant that my team was picked up from when we finished ministry each day this week. The protest occurred at at the time we normally would have been dropped off at the restaurant. As I reflect on the past few days I have an even greater understanding of the steps of the righteous being ordered by the Lord. I'm grateful for His divine interruptions.
