So I arrived in Nairobi, Kenya on July 2nd. I think we all kept looking at each other saying “we are in Africa” , it was a bit of a surreal moment. Over the next few days we had incredible hospitality, food, and fellowship.
On the night if July 3rd our hostel owner took a few of us to a crusade that was going on in the slums, so that we could see what it was like. When we arrived there was music playing, and people filled the street. The four of us were asked to come up and greet the people, so we did. After everyone introduced themselves I felt very strongly that I was supposed to pray for the people, so I was given permission to do so. After I prayed, I knew that The Lord was going to do something very special in the crusade. As we were about to leave Pastor Angeline asked me preach the next night at the crusade. I agreed to do so, and knew that The Lord had something planned.
We got to the crusade on July 4th, and notice that the theme was “Resurrection and Restoration”, which was the icing on the cake because our Squad had a night of worship and intercession for Africa before arriving and it’s theme was “reconciliation and restoration for Africa”. I had an overwhelming expectation for God to show up big.
The crusade was opened up with AMAZING praise and worship, I’ve never had so much fun dancing before The Lord. As praise and worship came to an end I was called up to the stage, as I took a deep breath and walked up I was more assured than ever that I was born for this, I was born to release the kingdom of heaven on earth.
As I engaged with the people the atmosphere was charged with excitement and expectation, and the Holy Spirit began to move as I preached on the life of Mary Magdeline. The power of God fell heavy and women were freed from the bondage of shame prostitution branded on them, women were saved, delivered from witchcraft, healed emotionally, and restored.
That indeed was the best 4th of July ever…a day we celebrated eternal freedom!!
