This month, I’ve been helping a woman named Gisele and her husband, Gregoire with their children’s ministry. You might remember I mentioned her in my last blog. They’re such a power couple and yes, you can quote me on that.

Anyway, it’s tough to know what to expect when it comes to kid’s ministry, but it’s always best to have something planned. So like good little World Racers, Ali and I made a plan of what story we were going to bring. While searching through The New Testament, I came across the story of The Good Samaritan. Perfect! We had taught them about the love of Jesus last week and how we can be examples of that love with our friends and even our enemies. Let’s tell them how we can also do that with people that we don’t even know.

We only get 1 hour with these kids, and this time, our new friend Savannah joined us! If you’ve traveled anywhere that was outside of your language comfort zone, you know how special it is to find people that not only can you actually talk with, but are close to you in age! To then be able to have them join you for ministry is even more incredible, and on top of that, be able to translate a bible story for you so you can then speak with the kids here in Africa…let’s just say that Savannah is a dream.

With the help of Savannah, I was able to follow along with their songs, the answers they gave in a review of a previous story they learned, and ultimately, I was able to share the bible story I prepared.

I got through my story, and asked them a couple questions. Apparently they have heard the story a few times. So the young ladies that teach that specific class asked the kids a few follow up things. This included cookies and the question of, “Who is going to be like The Good Samaritan?”. A little girl raised her hand and got 2 cookies, which she then proceeded to break in half and share with the friends sitting next to her.

Sweet little girl, I see you. I see the love you have in your eyes. How you care for your friends. The odds aren’t exactly in your favor, but I’m praying for you and this group here. Gisele is going to take amazing care for you. Jesus loves you. I love you. The world will try and lie to you. Please remember: Always. Choose. Love.

Love,

Kelli
