So I wrote this blog my first month of the Race.
I just found it and felt that I needed to share it.
Enjoy!
I never knew how powerful a fork could be.
I never knew how a simple question could change a lot of things.
I never knew.
I’d like you to meet Esther.
She helps our host family out with laundry, dishes, housework, etc.
She used to collect plastic bottles from the streets to make money.
Until Momma Francine asked her to come work in her home.
I kind of have this special bond with her.
I am teaching her English.
We have become friends.
We laugh together. A lot.

It was just like every other dinner.
We invited Esther to eat with us.
She always shies away and says, “No, No, No.”
We have been here 7 days and we always got the same response.
We respected that.
She was ashamed because she uses her hands to eat.
She was embarrassed because she didn’t know how to use a fork.
She just didn’t feel comfortable yet.
Tonight I asked again.
“Esther, would you like to eat dinner with us?”
Esther responded, “Yes! But can you teach me how to use a fork?”
My Heart.
My HEART.
Sometimes ministry doesn’t always look like hard labor or playing with children.
Sometimes ministry looks like this.
A simple meal.
A fork holding lesson.
Sharing a meal together.
Building a relationship.
Showing love and joy.
I realized, this is where I come alive.
The little tiny moments that have a great impact.
When someone trusts again.
When those walls come crashing down.
When the barriers fall.
When someone become vulnerable.
I never knew how powerful a fork could be.
I never knew.
The good Lord has put us exactly where we need to be.
He plans everything out perfectly.
He will reward us for our respect for what is best.
God is always working for the good of His people.
God will break those barriers down in His time.
Stay faithful to Him.
Keep pushing forward.
He might give you a fork.
A fork to bring someone closer to Him.
And who knows whether you have not come to the Kingdom for such a time as this?
