For some reason that I can’t quite understand, scholars and theologians and common folk sit around and argue theological concepts. I don’t get it. I can’t quite figure out why an Old World versus a New World is even relevant. I figure what does it matter as long as we all understand that

  • God made the world and people
  • People sinned and were separated from God
  • God loved us and wanted to repair the relationship
  • So God sent Jesus, his son.
  • Jesus died (for OUR sins)
  • Jesus rose from the dead (thus defeating death and paying the consequence of OUR sins)
  • This was God’s gift to us
  • People must accept this gift
  • And if they do, they receive eternal life in heaven with God

If we can all agree on this, I don’t see why the rest of theology matters. But to people it does. So, I have made my own conclusions about certain things. One of them being free will.

I believe in free will. And with an omnipresent all knowing God, how we can have free will is something people tend not understand. So to help everyone else understand, I would like to share my analogy with you that helps me understand free will.

So here it goes:

There is this scientific theory called string theory that explains the 10 dimensions in the Universe. Us, as 3 dimensional objects live in the 3rd dimension. We can only experience each dimension from our three dimensional point of view. The fourth dimension is the whole time of our individual lives. Every moment we live strung together (which is where string theory gets it’s name). We view each moment in of our fourth dimensional world in 3 dimensional frames – specific moments. In other words, each moment we live is a point on our fourth dimensional time lines.

The strings expand from first dimension all the way up to the 10th. Each of the dimensions is an expansion of the next. One is all possible outcomes for all possible events in each persons life (5th); all possible outcomes for all possible worlds (8th) and so on.

The tenth dimension is all possible outcomes for all possible realities for all possible universes. In other words, everything that could have occurred in ever universe is the tenth dimension. This, for me, is where God lives. Though he knows what choices we’re going to make; he also know the outcomes of all the choices we didn’t make, could make, will make, ect. God knows it all.

For me God lives in the 10th dimension knowing what I could have done, what I did do, what I could do, and what I will do. God knows this for me and for all people on earth. This is free will. We have the choice and God knows the outcome of our choices because God knows all.

I understand that this could be a little difficult to understand if you don’t like science or know anything about string theory, so on September 24th, I will post a blog using another analogy that might be a bit easier to understand. God and Kool Aid.
