BUSYNESS
Together, we’re looking at the parable of the Great Banquet. All of the guests invited to the banquet made excuses about attending. None of the invited guests came, so the man sent his servant out to collect people off the street and bring them in.
The man didn’t care if they were poor or lame. He didn’t care if they had the right status to be invited to the banquet. His banquet was going to be filled up and he didn’t care who came to celebrate and eat of his wonderful feast.
Each of the guests who were invited made excuses for not attending the banquet. As we looked at earlier, the first guest was too preoccupied with his stuff to attend the banquet. He ended up missing out on God because of his stuff. Even today, consumerism gets in the way of our relationships with God but it might not be the thing that gets us. Let’s hear the excuse of the second guest and see if we have more in common with him. . . .
