Covi is the ministry I get the honor of working with for the next two months. Covi is a ministry located in the middle of one of the biggest parks in Ecuador.
Covi is a place for street kids to come during the days to get a hot lunch, get help with homework, and find community. It is a place for children who are at high risk of being in gangs go after or before school. It is a safe place. A place where they receive love, and a place where they can have fun. They also get poured into daily by the staff and volunteers.
While we are at Covi, we will be gardening. They have a garden where they grow all their fruits and vegetables to feed the children. So we will be fixing up and maintaining that over the next few months. We also have the opportunity to help the kids with homework, which can be difficult because I am not very skilled in Spanish. We also help cook, feed the children, clean, and do things around the Covi campus that needs to be done.
Recently, we had the opportunity to paint murals at Covi. We got to make Covi an even more beautiful place than it already was. We got to bring some more color and life to Covi, and it was one of the coolest things I’ve done. I got the opportunity to leave my artwork in Quito, Ecuador. To leave something here, and to actually see my artwork on the side of a building.
Through this opportunity, I was able to use the gifts and talents that the Lord has given me to bless a ministry, and He reminded me… this is what life is all about.
I can use my God given gifts to bless the world, and that is the sweetest thing.
The one on one relationships we are able to make with these children is super special. We get to pour into them daily, and each day, they become more and more open to us. It is special to see the Lord working in their lives, setting them free from the bondage they have been in, and seeing them have pure joy in a safe place.
It’s going to be a sweet two more months.
