In a room about the size of an average living room, children lined the floor. They laid there, broken and helpless. These are the children with mentally and physically disabilitied. Neglected. Forgotten. They were deemed “untouchable.” They were viewed as cursed. They were abandoned in a rice bag in the middle of a field, in a cemetery, in hospitals. They were left for dead.

That was the reality Sarah Rebbavarapu witnessed in India. God put it on her heart to care for ten of these children. The government gave her forty. This is the story of how Sarah’s Covenant Home was born. It is now home to one hundred and five children. Sarah describes it like this “SCH is a deep thing – not just a “project” in response to a “need.” It’s something I gave birth to as much as a mom does a child… I love the kiddos deeply and want their experience here on earth to be all God has intended for them.”

Sarah’s heart in evident in the care of the kids. Each child now has his/her own bed, personalized care, and most importantly, love. Oh how I wish for each of you to know what it is like to hold these kids in your arms; To see their faces light up just from seeing your face, or feeling your touch; To celebrate with them in taking steps on their own. It’s inevitable for tears to surface at times when thinking about where they’ve come from. It is difficult to imagine someone intentionally discarding these precious gifts we love so much.

Caring for one hundred and five special needs children is not an easy task. The need here is great. However, it’s not necessary for you to be physically here in India to love and help them. SCH is launching a campaign called "105in105." The goal is for each of the105 children to be fully sponsored in 105 days. My heart melts when I watch the video below and I know yours will too.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

– Proverbs 31:8-9
