So this is where I lived for the month of December. We stayed at Cicrin, which is an orphanage/children’s center. I sadly still do not know much about this place because we never got an orientation to it…it kept getting postponed and never happened. Well what I do know is that Nicaragua tried to shut down all the orphanages in the country, which was terrible because kids went to their closest living relative. Sounds great in theory, but most people are living in poverty. Two little girls went home to their grandmother which ended up turning into an abusive situation (thank God they are back at Cicrin). So the reason that Cicrin is still up and running is because they added education to their program. So this place houses kids who are either parentless or come from homes that are not good. There were between 20 and 30 kids there and most of them were teenagers.

This month we were paired with team Kaleo and we worked in the garden, the guys killed lots of chickens, we helped with the cooks in the kitchen, we cared for the little kids during the day, and we did a lot of work around the property. This month was not too hard on me physically, but was more of a tough mental month of learning and stretching. This place was great though, I didn’t get too connected there unlike in Honduras, but I definitely enjoyed the holidays and the time I got to spend with the people there!

Here is a video of where I lived…it is a little long because there is a lot of property to walk on and I don’t have video editing stuff so here you go! And this is where you will understand the title of this blog…I hope.
