I was in church on Sunday, which was also Memorial Day weekend, and God had me thinking during worship. I usually do not think much about the soldiers or vets, but lately when I see them something inside of me leaps. My heart does a little dance full of gratitude. So during worship I was thinking about the soldiers and how they fight for us! They sacrifice their lives for us everyday for our freedom, for a better life for us! We just sit around and drink iced tea, often forgetting that people are DYING for us today.

Naturally it all pointed back to Jesus. I guess that is why my heart becomes so happy when I see a soldier because they are a small glimpse of Jesus! Soldiers fight for a better life here on this earth, but Jesus came and died for us so that we could have eternal life!!! Eternal life is never dying! If we believe in who Jesus is then we can enter into Heaven, a place with no hurt, tears, sadness, fear. We will be perfect, we will see God!!!!

Jesus was a good soldier, a perfect soldier, but we as Christians are also soldiers. We are a part of Christ's army, but we forget that. I know I do all the time. The soldiers that serve our country don't forget that they are soldiers, they fight everyday! We have battles everyday to fight as well. Paul in 2 Timothy 2:3-4 wrote:

Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs–he wants to please his commanding officer.

The commanding officer is Jesus, is our God! We must fight for him, stand up for him, bring his people to a better life in him. There are so many people who need to be saved from the grips of the enemy.  The answer is in Jesus, he sets us free, he can save us, he won't let us be taken into the hands of death! Jesus died for us to take on all of our sins, guilt, blame, burdens…

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Our God is  a God who saves; from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.
Psalm 68:19-20

Our God is a good God!!!!! Reflect on who he is, how he saves, and fight for him! He is the ultimate Savior, he will bring us to a place of green pastures that cannot be spoiled by the hands of the enemy. In him we have protection, we just need to put on our armor and fight for those who don't have it!
