So on Thursday of this week I wrote a poem and I would like to share it with all of you. This month has been hard for me. I might as well be honest. I am dealing with a lot of emotional stuff and just having a hard time leaving home at home. Tanzania is a hot country! We have been doing a lot of different ministries here. We did door to door evangelism a few days. We have visited two schools. We have services on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Last week we were in a village for 3 days. We were able to visit a Masaii village and help to start building the foundation of a new church. I enjoyed the village despite of a lot of heat and sunburn. It was so neat to be a part of a new culture. The village was just beautiful. We were also able to be a part of two services in the village. I enjoyed both of them so much. I might have said this before but I will never get tired of African worship. They are so enthusiastic and passionate about their worship. Anyways here is the poem I wrote. Hope you all enjoy it.
You are all that I need
When the storm is raging around me, all I have to do is call to the maker of heaven and earth and ruler over all.
He is all I need when this world gets dark and cold.
He will bring forth his light and make new what once was old.
There is no one else who can satisfy all of my desires.
May I live my life to raise his name higher and higher.
I can see him in the trees and feel him in the wind.
But it is when I am on my knees that he feels close within.
He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
He is my comforter, my provider and my best friend.
He will pick you up when you are down and make you smile when you want to frown.
He can bring sunshine on a cloudy day and make the rain go away.
All we have to do is come to him and lay our burdens at his feet.
He will take them up upon himself and give us sweet relief.
We can rest in him and know that he has a plan. So here I am God, my life is in your hands.
Do with me what you will may it be your will not thine.
May I long to be in your presence as you are with me all the time.
May I just bask in your goodness and let your glory shine.
Even in the midst of all that I have been going through lately, I am reminded that at the end of the day God is all that I need in this life. As I said in the poem he is the only one who can satisfy all of my desires. I am reminded of two verses: Philippians 4:19, “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus, and Psalm 37:4, “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” So remember no one on this earth can satisfy you and give you all the desires of your heart but the Lord. Let him be your everything and trust in him to take care of all your needs in this life. Here are some pictures from this month so far.
