In Haiti, we were working with a ministry called Supply & Multiply who’s main focus is serving the elderly. They have 2 homes called the Matthew 25 houses. While visiting the women’s home, I met a beautiful woman named Marisel. She had been living there longer than any other resident’s and was blind. Each time we went there I would sit with her and hold her hand.

Speaking different languages, it’s hard sometimes to have a full conversation with others. One day when I was sitting with her, I could tell she wasn’t feeling well. I wanted so badly to just ask her myself what was going on. I wanted so badly to tell her how much I loved her. I asked the translator to ask her what was wrong and she said she just had a little pain in her leg, but I wanted to know her heart. I wanted to hear her story. I wanted so badly to just speak to her.

God is so good. You see, the crazy thing about the Lord is he is so powerful that even without sight, or same language to understand each other, I know that Marisel and I both know how much we love each other. I could feel the Father’s love through her hands. Each time I visited sweet Marisel, there was so much joy. She loved to sing for us. So Jesus I thank you for unconditional love. I thank you for knowing our hearts in such a way that even without speaking, we can know love through you.

My heart broke not being about to communicate with her. My heart was also filled with so much joy sitting with Marisel. I only hope she knows how much I cherish my time with her. I pray that no matter how many times my heart breaks in the future, I can continue to hear God through his universal langage…

LOVE.

I love you Marisel.
