We arrived in Trujillo, Peru exactly a week ago. Month 2 is all squad month so not only did we have 40 hours of bus time together we get to spend the whole month together! It has been great for all of us to catch up and to tell funny stories from month 1.

The first couple of day in Trujillo was spent in Debrief. Debrief consisted of spending time together, exploring the new city, and letting go of past events that have been haunting us and holding us back from spiritual growth.

On the last day of debrief (Monday), we had a team fun day that was spent sand boarding. The dunes and the surrounding areas were gorgeous! Sand boarding was so much fun but exhausting. Walking up the dunes was such a workout and exhausting in itself but then going down…talk about sand EVERYWHERE!
On Tuesday we started ministry in Peru working with Savage Ministries. The kids are on Winter break so we are holding vacation bible school.

The first day we focused on telling the story of David and Goliath. My team has been paired up with fearless laughter to be in charge of arts and crafts. We are in charge of planning the craft, preparing the supplies, and walking the kids through the steps. The craft for David and Goliath was a slingshot made out of a toilet paper roll and some string.
The second day of vacation bible school was focused on Jonah and the Whale. For our craft the second day we made Jonah out of pipe cleaners and placed him inside the stomach of a paper whale.

Thursday’s theme was Noah’s Ark! It was great to talk about God’s promise with the children. Fridays theme is Daniel and the Lions Den.

Each team has been in charge of a station for the kids to visit. The different stations consist of Story Time, songs, arts and crafts, games, and snack time. Each day we have had around 110 kids!

Savage ministry is reaching hundreds of people each week whether it be adults or
Children.

The rest of our time in Peru will look a lot different than this week has. We will be preaching at church services, leading youth group, and working with the children at the free christian school that Savage Ministries has offered to the children. Each child has been sponsored for the year which alleviates pressure of having to pay for an education for the child. The average cost of a school in Peru is 60 soles (around $20) a year which can be difficult for the parents to come up with.

All of the work that I have been doing is not possible without partners from the USA. Partnering with me will keep me in the field, reaching more people each day and sharing with them the love of Christ. To partner on this mission trip with me, click the support me tab on the left, share my blog with your friends and pray for my team, my squad and myself.

Thank you for the support I have been receiving so far! I definitely have been feeling your prayers!

Love,
