Community is an important aspect in walking a Christian lifestyle. When walking in a strong community you have support and people to help keep you accountable. In the past I have walked in and out of strong communities but never have I encountered a community that becomes so strong so fast.
This past week was training camp for the World Race. The first night was very surface community everyone’s tents were together but with much space in between them. However as the week went on I was able to see the community grow and become a tight knit family. I’m part of the A-squad and after being at camp for a couple days some needs needed to be meant in her family. I saw people step up and offer tents to people who needed a dry place to stay. People where sharing food, clothes, and even some toothbrushes, just to meet the needs of someone on their squad. In caring for each other as a squad brought us closer together as a family and made you realize how important it was to meet the needs of someone who might not have a dry place to sleep.
I was able to see God work in my life by humbling me. Going to training camp I took a four person tent instead of a two person. I was not happy about doing this and thought of what a pain it would be to carry. However God knew that there were going to be people that needed a place to sleep, and I was blessed to be able to share my tent with at least two other girls every night. I was blessed to have so many people offer to help carry the tent for me because it was heavy. By the last night at training camp when we set our tents up they were so close to each other that there wasn’t a lot of space to move in between them. This shows you what a strong Christian community should look like even if it is only a week you have known each other.
As this year goes by I’m excited to see where this community will go. How God will use these relationships to further his kingdom in the nations. Lastly what else we will share because someone has a need and we have something capable of meeting that need.
