The Lord made it so clear that for that season of my life I was to hold out on school and teaching wasn’t where I was going to find my worth or where my entire focus needed to be. Teaching wasn’t more important than him and I wasn’t supposed to be so boastful in it. The Lord definitely took me to a humbling position.

As I signed up for the race teaching was the furthest thing from my mind, I knew for a fact that it probably wouldn’t be my career. However the Lord is bringing the passion for teaching back to me in beautiful ways. The last two weeks in Romania we would be walking around the city doing ministry and I would see a teacher with her students walking them on a field trip and several times I would make the comment to my team “ I think they need another chaperone I’m going to go join them” I could visually see myself leading a class on a field trip and just building relationships with the students again.

This month has been a huge blessing. In no way did I think by month two would the Lord be doing such a work in my heart to bring teaching back as a strong passion for me. This month I was partnered with 2 other teams at our ministry, on each of these other teams are two girls who teach 3rd grade back in the states and took the year off from teaching to go on the race. What a blessing to hear their hearts for teaching.

When our contact brought up the fact he wanted us to do something we were passionate about I knew I was supposed to work with these two wonderful girls and children. This month we are working on putting together a children’s ministry program for them to use once we leave. My passion for teaching has come back full strength while doing this. Being able to use knowledge from high school and college about lesson planning and unit planning has been especially helpful. It has been such a blessing to see how God can take something you are passionate about and refocus you onto him and then give you back the same passion in some cases but an even stronger passion for it. I’m excited to see what he does the rest of the 9 and half months we have left on the field with this passion. But as of right now I can’t wait to get back to the states and enroll in school again to finish my degree and have my own classroom!
