Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

So team Lit has been living together for about 20 days now. We’ve actually been living with another team as well, team Fiercely Loved (#FiercelyLit) . We evangelize together, we worship together, we pray together, we exercise together, we eat together, we share a tiny bathroom together, we share our snacks, every night we sit down to give each other feed back, and some nights we all pile into a small corner of a room to watch Prince or Egypt on a lap top together…
But in this short amount of time in the midst of doing life together…
We have seen each other come alive as we each step into our gifts and callings.
We have seen each other sick.
We have seen each other make statements that we weren’t happy that we made.
We have seen each other comfort one another when we’re in our darkest places.
We have seen each other call one another out when we walk in bondage and lies.
We have seen each other laugh until we cry and can’t breathe.
We have seen each other step out in courage into uncomfortable unknowns.
We have seen each other in worship, prayer, and in the Word.
We have seen each other walk in the Spirit.
We have seen each other make mistakes.
We have seen each other do really annoying, frustrating, and stressful things.
We have seen each other give our covenant yes to one another every day.
We have seen each other go back on our yes’s, and return once more.
We have seen each other exercise strength in faith, videoing, praying, courage, caring, steadfastness, commitment, instruments, vocals, preaching, leading, accountability, encouragement, joyfulness, sacrifice, service, and so much more.
We have seen each other exercise weaknesses in insecurities.
We have seen each other ask and answer hard questions and decide to be vulnerable.
But most importantly….
We have seen each other.
It’s one thing to look at someone, but it’s another thing to see them. Seeing someone takes commitment. A lot like a marriage, we have chosen to love each other as a team through sickness and health, wealth and poor, good and bad. When we see each other, we don’t ignore the bad and ugly. We don’t look for what we want to, but we see what God wants us to see. Yes a lot of it is good! However, seeing means knowing you at your worst, at your best, what are fronts, what are walls, and what is real. Truly seeing someone verses looking at someone leads to deeper, truer, more authentic love, and we as team Lit have chosen to see each other.
